One thing about Texas in the winter time is that everything is brown and dead looking. The grass has gone into hibernation, trees are mostly bare, some shrubs loose their leaves also, winter is brown. California on the other hand, is green in many areas during the winter, except for the mountains which is green and bright white, (from the snow) but here there is no snow, and although we have many evergreen plants and trees, most loose their leaves in the fall. So when spring comes around, it is like everything pops! |

We don't have a lot of flowering plants in our yard, most are trees or shrubs that only bloom in the spring. Some of the most interesting of the spring flowers is the yellow flower above. It grows almost wild, anywhere and everywhere you don't pull it out in the summer. Our front flowerbeds were full of them, and even though they are cool looking, they become massive and take over everything, but they are easy to pull up. |

A couple of days ago we were looking at the back yard, noticing the roses blooming, (we have 3 bushes in back). Today when I went out to take a few pictures, the 2 large bushes were completely empty of open blooms. I think it was because of all of the heavy rain and stormy weather we have had for the last week straight. We got over 3" of rain from Friday to Sunday, and more than 4" for the entire week. One of the rose bushes that did still have blooms open was the mini rose above. |

| Pomegranate Blooms | ||
|
We have 4 Pomegranate trees in our yard, 2 on each side of the house. Their blooms are really pretty, kind of like a carnation, and they are massive. Only thing is that the fruit is small and not edible. I don't know if it's because they get too much water, not enough, or if it's too humid here. |
