Grapevine Texas is just a few miles down the road from us.  We go to Grapevine quite often, either to dine at one of our favorite restaurants or to shop for an item that we can't find either in Keller or Southlake.  Grapevine is a larger city than Keller or Southlake, and they have more restaurants than many of the local towns or cities.  We go to Grapevine for PF Chang's, Olive Garden, Joe's Crab Shack, and Hooter's.  There are many other restaurants there, but Chili's and TGI Friday's are closer, as both are also in Keller.  We also go to Best Buy and Academy Sports there in Grapevine.  They have a very large outlet mall, and a large outdoor sports store where we often go to shoot the glock.  The main thing that Grapevine is known for around here besides the Gaylord Texan, is the Grapefest.  They have a few vineyards in Grapevine that produce some nice wines, so every year they put on the Grapefest to celebrate the wines of Grapevine.

Grapefest is an annual event in Grapevine Texas.  Grapevine reminds me a lot of Folsom California because of 2 main characteristics; They have a nice lake just north of the city, (Grapevine Lake), and they have a real old town, where the Festival is held every year.  Grapevine has a lot of Wineries that produce a fair amount of wine.  This festival is mainly for celebrating the wines or Texas.  Everywhere you look you see wine tasting, grape stomping, food, food, beer, wine, beer and more food; and did I mention wine tasting?  Grapevine is a nice little town just a few miles east of Keller, about a 15 minute drive in traffic.  They have a lot of unique shops, pubs, and stuff to see.  It is one of the most interesting things to see here in Texas.

A Note about Grapefest 2008.  We did not attend the Grapefest this year.  Mainly because the day we usually go (Saturday) was the day Hurricane Ike came to visit north Texas.  The wind was crazy heavy, the rain was heavy at times and Grapefest was still going on.  We decided to pass on this year, and maybe go twice next year...
